Veteran Stand Down provides much-needed resources to local veterans

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The county of Monterey is looking to connect local veterans with support services at a stand-down and resource fair on Friday.

The event will be open to all veterans along with their families and caregivers.

Over 50 home healthcare, legal, and education services providers will be there.

People can also get VA claim assistance and help enrolling for benefits. Clothing and food will also be distributed.

The county says providing support early on can help prevent future suffering.

"Often we find out, from my personal experience, we find out a little bit too late. And you know, our theory in this office is it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it," Military & Veterans Affairs Office Adam Errahebi said.

The 2025 Veteran Stand Down and Resource Fair is April 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Veterans Service Office at the County of Monterey Coastal Offices, 2620 1st Avenue in Marina.
