Fresno man arrested in Monterey for assault weapon

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A man was arrested after being found to have an assault weapon during a traffic stop in Monterey on Wednesday.

According to Monterey Police, 22-year-old Abdalsalam Assad from Fresno had been stopped by a Monterey Police officer due to the loudness of their exhaust.

Assad let officers know that he had an assault weapon inside a black trash bag in his trunk.

Officers found a modified magazine with 30 rounds of ammunition. Assad was arrested for possession of an assault weapon.
