Copper wire theft on the rise in Salinas with weekly incidents

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The City of Salinas is warning that copper wire thefts continue to be a problem across the city.

City workers have to replace the wiring nearly every week.

The city says you can spot whether someone is part of a Public Works crew by the city logo on their vehicles and safety vests.

If someone around these wires is seen without the logos or proper gear, people can report suspicious activity to the Salinas Police Department's non-emergency line at 831-758-7321.
