City of Hollister is looking to create an entertainment district

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Hollister City Council hopes to designate an area of the city as an entertainment district with several directions being brought before the council.

The city will hear three different methods to implement the concept of an entertainment district to bring more tourists and visitors to the area.

One method is naming a specific area of the city and making it known across the city's website with the possibility of physical signage.

The second method is creating an overlay district that would create different regulations and zoning areas. This could include different noise regulations, lighting, aesthetics and street performers.

The last method involves creating an assessment district which allows the city of Hollister to improve a specific area through revitalization projects.

The council will hear the proposals and possible direction at the next City Council meeting on March 17.
