Imjin Parkway Widening & Roundabout Project continues into second phase

MARINA, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The City of Marina is continuing major construction on the Imjin Parkway widening and roundabout project.

Marina hopes that including sidewalks along Imjin Road will improve pedestrian safety.

They also plan on grading and continuing to widen the roadway between Imijin Road and Abrams Drive.

In addition, Marina's Public Works Department says a new section of sanitary sewer piping across Preston Drive.

Commuters and people who travel through Imjin are hopeful about the outcome.

"That's the way it should be. I'm a retired Caltrans engineer and there should be safe walkways pretty much in every direction to get to wherever they want to go," Marina resident David Conrad said.

The city of Marina wants to remind people that while driving through construction zone areas, the speed limit is 25 miles per hour.

And, the recommended speed limit through a roundabout while under construction is 15 miles per hour.

The hope is to re-open Marina Heights Drive in late March followed by Imijin Road in late April.

All of this will continue throughout the next two weeks with no scheduled night work.
