Two people being sought in Hollister rabbit abandonment

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Two people are being sought after abandoning two rabbits in a cage before the Hollister Animal Shelter.

On March 9, two people were seen through security cameras abandoning the rabbits in front of the shelter. they had parked away from the shelter and placed the rabbits before driving away.

After investigation, they found that the rabbits had no food, water, or shelter outside the cage. One of the rabbits appeared to have an eye injury and was transported to be treated by a local veterinarian.

Hollister Police Animal Care and Services needs help identifying the two people of interest.

Abandoning animals at a shelter falls under California Penal Code 597 which prohibits animal abuse or cruelty.
