Outage in Carmel Valley leaves several customers without power for over 24 hours

CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Update 1:00 p.m. March 11, 2024: Some community members in the Carmel Valley continue to be without power nearly 24 hours after the second outage.

The second outage near Jacks Peak County Park left 2,496 people without power since 1:55 p.m.

According to PG&E's Marketing and Communications Principal Paul Moreno, only 606 customers are affected in the area. The estimated time for restoration is now 10 p.m.

The cause of the outage was due to an underground cable failure.

Two outages in Carmel Valley leave customers without power

Update 2:53 p.m. March 10, 2024: The second outage near Jacks Peak County Park has an estimated restoration time of 8:30 p.m.

Two outages have left more than 3,000 customers without power in Carmel Valley.

According to PG&E's Outage Map, the first outage closer to Carmel Valley Road left 835 customers without power since 1:32 p.m.

The estimated time of restoration for that outage is 4 p.m.

A second outage near Jacks Peak County Park was reported at 1:55 p.m., leaving 2,496 customers without power. There is no estimated restoration time for this outage.

In both instances, the outages are unplanned with crews determining the cause of each one.
