Community Bridges, PG&E team for bill assistance workshops

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Community Bridges and PG&E have partnered for a series of bill assistance workshops in Watsonville as part of a senior outreach program.

PG&E is being joined by Community Bridges and Central Coast Energy Services to aid in their Senior Advocate Outreach Program which provides energy assistance programs with help from non-profits.

Community Bridges's first workshop focused on Spanish-speaking seniors with PG&E answering questions on-site on Thursday. There will also be a focus on how to cut energy costs and save money with seniors enrolled in the Watsonville Senior Center Meals on Wheels program.

“Many seniors in disadvantaged communities are grappling with financial challenges and limited resources,” vice president for PG&E’s South Bay and Central Coast Teresa Alvarado said.

Both non-profits are two out of the 11 non-profits to host six in-person bill assistance workshops throughout PG&E's service area focusing on financial assistance programs. These programs include the energy company's Medical Baseline and California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) programs.

"We’re proud to partner with Pacific Gas and Electric Company to ensure our local seniors, especially those in underserved and hard-to-reach areas, have the tools to save energy and keep more of their hard-earned dollars where they belong—in their pockets," Community Bridges marketing and communications manager Tony Nunez said.
