Lighthouse Avenue Sidewalk project complete in Pacific Grove

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Lighthouse Avenue Sidewalk Extension Project is now complete in Pacific Grove. The project was first proposed to bring about more walkability in the area.

The Sidewalk Extension project was first approved on June 19 of last year to help extend the sidewalk to 26 feet from the buildings along Lighthouse and Fountain Avenues. A vast number of changes were made to the area including removing wooden parklets in the and excavating the intersection.

Curbs, gutters, sidewalks, cross walks and curb ramps were reconstructed with a new repaved bulb-out intersections with the wider sidewalks. New metal picket fencing was installed for outdoor seating areas with new trees planted and new relocated light poles and street signs.

Despite the completion, tree grates are still needed to be installed. The project was funded by the City of Pacific Grove's Capital Improvement Plan.
