Scotts Valley Introduces New Fire Marshal

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The city of Scotts Valley introduced its new Fire Marshal on Wednesday. Deputy fire marshal and former firefighter of the year Erin Collins is getting the promotion.

Collins has more than 20 years of firefighting experience, and although she only joined the Scotts Valley Fire Department in 2022, she was born and raised in Santa Cruz County.

It's the first time in more than a decade that the city has had a fire marshal, and she's already setting a good example. Her son hopes to follow in her footsteps and join the Scotts Valley Fire Department one day.

Collins has released a statement with the city's announcement saying, "I truly could not imagine a better community to serve than the one I call home, these are my neighbors, my friends, keeping them safe through my profession is a privilege."
