1 hospitalized after shooting in Novato, shelter-in-place lifted

A shelter-in-place order for a Novato neighborhood was lifted Tuesday afternoon after a person was wounded in an earlier shooting, police said.

Around 10:15 a.m., police received reports of a person with a gunshot wound near Alameda Del Prado and Ignacio Boulevard. The person was taken to the hospital, but their condition was not immediately known.

Following the shooting, a shelter-in-place was issued for the area of Alameda Del Prado and Calle Arboleda as authorities investigated and searched for potential suspects.

Around 2:40 p.m., police had lifted the shelter-in-place order. Police said they were also looking for a suspect, whom they described as an adult male standing 5’6″ tall, wearing dark pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black mask.

“We thank the community for their patience while officers investigated the incident,” police said.
