Clocktower Center appeal public hearing set for tomorrow evening in Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) - The city of Santa Cruz is inviting people to hear an appeal of a controversial housing project at Tuesday's city council meeting.

This comes after the planning commission approved plans for the Clocktower Center in April, which include an eight-story apartment building with 178 units located at 2020 North Pacific Avenue.

The project first drew pushback due to the original proposal for a 16-story building.

Appeals going before the council concern the removal of trees and the size of balconies that overhang into public space.

The city council's public hearing begins at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the city council chambers at Santa Cruz City Hall
