Teen injured in fireworks incident in Salinas

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) - A teen suffered a major injury from a firework yesterday in Salinas.

According to the City of Salinas, Salinas Fire and Salinas Police were called to Monte Bella Park after reports of a juvenile injured in a firework incident.

Once at the scene, they found a 14-year-old with injuries to his hand and face. He was transported to Natividad Medical Center and flown to a Level 1 trauma center in the Bay Area.

Salinas Fire Chief Samuel Klemek said that "this is an unfortunate reminder of the dangers of fireworks."
