Salinas Police investigating deadly Saturday shooting

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Salinas Police confirmed to KION one person was killed in a shooting Saturday.

The department said it received a ShotSpotter activation at approximately 7pm in the area of Cesar Chavez Park.

One person was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene, per police. The department said detectives are following up on leads, but no suspect information is being provided at this time. The victim is also not being identified at this time.
