Elevated Fire Weather Concern Through Friday in Santa Cruz Mountains and East Bay
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – Weak low pressure aloft will stick around for the next few days. The marine layer will remain in place on the coast but clouds may occasionally clear as the air around the low mixes through the layers. The overall air mass aloft will remain warm, so inland areas will see seasonable to slightly warm highs, but coastal areas will continue to be seasonable to slightly cool. . The pattern will break late in the week.
Air Quality: Good
Overnight: Increasing clouds with lows in the 50s and highs in the 60s on the coast. Temperatures in the low 50s to 70s for lows inland and the highs in the 70s and 80s even some 90s.
Independence Day: Sunny inland with some clouds hanging out on the coast. highs in the 60s and lows in the 50s for our coastal areas. Our inland areas will see temperatures in the highs of 70s and 80s.
Extended: Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a highs in the 70s

The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for July 9th – 15th calls for the likelihood of ABOVE normal temperatures and near normal precipitation, though little to no precipitation usually falls this time of year.

- ENSO Forecast: Neutral conditions persist through summer & possibly into next winter.
-Area drought status: Abnormally dry for portions of southern San Benito and southeastern Monterey Counties. Drought-free for the remainder of the KION coverage area.
