SPCA Monterey County recommends tree trimming before nesting season

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- SPCA Monterey County is urging people to trim their trees down now before spring's nesting season begins.

In a release, the non-profit organization most homeowners tend to trim their trees in the spring rather than in winter. SPCA is recommending those looking to trim their trims do so in the winter months rather than spring due to the risks of nests falling down when a tree is trim.

One main concerns is hummingbird nests as they tend to be as small as a golf ball and not usually seen once trimming. SPCA is also asking those not to attempt to feed rescued birds and call SPCA instead,
