Monterey police identify man they say fired gunshots and charged officers
UPDATE: 6/7/20 12:00p.m. 31-year old Patrick Evans of Monterey has been arrested after Monterey police officers responded to multiple reports of "gunshots" and fireworks.
When police arrived to the 200 block of Monroe Street around 8:30p.m. Saturday night, they say Evans refused to listen to commands and had fired a pistol multiple times in the air before charging at officers.
Police say Evans then twice brought his hand from behind his back and pointed at officers mimicking as if he was holding a gun.
Officer were able to taser Evans and take him into custody.
In a separate incident about 45 minutes later Monterey police officers were dispatched to the Transit Plaza on 500 Tyler Street. A suspect was reported firing a gun into the air at that location, but neither a suspect nor a gun was located.
MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) One person is in police custody for allegedly shooting and charging at officers.
The incident happened at around 8:45 p.m. Officers responded to a call about someone shooting a gun near Monroe and Wainwright and found someone nearby.
Monterey police said that person charged at officers, who used a taser to take the suspect into custody.
