Storage unit eviction leads to homeless items on school grounds

When parents in Santa Cruz County dropped their kids off at school Friday morning they didn’t expect to see what looked to be a homeless encampment on school grounds.

Outraged parents and community members took to social media posting photos of a homeless man setting up camp at Branciforte Small Schools Campus parking lot.

According to Santa Cruz Police, the homeless man was reportedly kicked out of a storage unit across campus on Benito Street. Police cited the man when he dragged his belongings onto the school’s property but officials said it’s now in the hands of the school district.
