Salinas nanny arrested after driving drunk with child in car

A Salinas nanny has been arrested after driving under the influence with a child in her car.

47-year-old Jennifer Ahlin is the nanny for a 6-year-old and 1-year-old. Officials said Thursday afternoon she drive to Creekside Elementary School with the 1-year-old to pick up the older child.

When she got to the school, employees suspected Ahlin was drunk, so they stalled her and called the police.

Sensing something was wrong, Ahlin tried to leave with the 1-year-old, but was stopped by school staff who said Ahlin was trying, but failing to get her key in the door lock.

By then, Salinas Police Officers arrived. She was given field sobriety tests and based on the tests was arrested.

Ahlin chose to take a breath test with the results being .20. She was booked in Monterey County Jail and the children were turned over to their parents.
