KION Pets of the Week for August 21, 2025

Our Neighborhood Pet Project and Animal Friends Rescue Project introduces us to this week's Pets of the Week.

GECKO

Gecko is a German and Australian Shepard mix out of Our Neighborhood Pet Project and just turned four months old.

He's a lively boy that's a bit timid at first. Gecko would love an active home with other canine playmates to romp around with and plenty of toys to chew on.

Gecko is still mastering his puppy skills so he'll need to be supervised around very young children.

You can meet Gecko at the annual West End Celebration on August 23 and 24th in Sand City. ONPP will be there from noon to 7 pm.

You can also find adoption information at OurNeighborhoodPetProject.org

ZAIDA

Your second dose of Pet of the Week is a pup named Zaida from Animal Friends Rescue Project.

Zaida is almost three and is a fun and active girl.

AFRP says Zaida loves playing with other dogs and going for walks. She has some medical needs, but they don't slow her down a bit.

Zaida is good for an active family or adopter ready to welcome a playful pet.

AFRP events include the following below:

  • August 28 12-3pm : Monterey County Fair Booth
  • August 29 3-5pm : Monterey County Fair Booth
  • August 31 11-2pm : Pet Food Express Pet Meet N' Greet
  • AFRP Kitten Adoption Special : From August 18–25, adopt two kittens for just $75—or one for $50!

You can find adoption information at AnimalFriendsRescue.org
