MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) The Monterey County Health Department has issued a beach rain advisory for all Monterey County beaches.

As of Thursday, people are warned not to have any contact with ocean water for three days after the last rain event.

The health department also warns that contact with contaminated ocean water may make you sick. Water coming from storm drains may be contaminated with bacteria, viruses, protozoa or chemicals. Bacteria levels increase in the water after rain storms because there is more runoff into the bay.

Fore more information, call the Beach Condition Hotline at 831-755-4599.
