Police: Woman arrested with ghost rifle in Sand City

SAND CITY, Calif. (KION) A woman who police said had a ghost rifle was arrested in Sand City.
Police performed a probation compliance search on the 700 block of Dias Street, and when officers searched Jayna Kersh's bedroom, they said they found a Ruger .380 LCP handgun, a short-barreled AR-15 style ghost rifle, several magazines, live rounds, holsters and crystal meth.
Kersh was booked into the Monterey County Jail.
A ghost weapon is one built by a person instead of a manufacturer, according to Sand City police. Parts are ordered from one or multiple manufacturers or online. Once assembled, the guns should be registered. If it is not, it is untraceable.
