45 arrested in major cocaine network bust in Belgium, Spain
BRUSSELS (AP) — Police in Belgium and Spain have arrested 45 people during an operation targeting a major drugs trafficking network. EU agencies tackling crime said Tuesday that the operation took down “one of Europe’s most active Albanian-speaking cocaine trafficking networks in Europe.” They said the suspects imported cocaine from Latin America to European ports. Belgium has become a major hub trafficking drugs into Europe. Antwerp is one of Europe’s main ports of entry for cocaine from South America. Some 600 law enforcement officiers carried out searches in more than 80 places to bolster the arrests.
