SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Federal authorities say they have detained 17 Dominican migrants after their boat capsized near Puerto Rico’s northwest coast in pre-dawn hours, with the U.S. Coast Guard searching for an estimated 10 others still missing. Customs and Border Patrol spokesman Jeffrey Quiñones told The Associated Press that those detained Friday told officials that a total of 27 people were aboard the boat that turned over near Shacks Beach in Isabela. He added that there are no indications those missing had drowned. The U.S. Coast Guard told AP that the boat overturned about 75 yards (69 meters) from shore.
