US Capitol Police officer has not died following pro-Trump riot
UPDATE 1/7/2021 5:30 p.m. U.S. Capitol police now say an officer has not died, even though Rep. Dean Phillips and Sen. Marco Rubio said they were told an officer had died.
“Media reports regarding the death of an officer are not accurate...some officers were injured & hospitalized yesterday, no...officers have passed away," police told CBS' David Begnaud.
Begnaud reports that Police Union Chair Gus Papathanasiou says the officer is on life support until his family can arrive.
