Beloved preschool in Soledad faces permanent closure

SOLEDAD, California (KION)

Teachers and parents at Windy Acres in Soledad are trying to raise money to keep the preschool open.

The school, a non-profit, is in a dire financial situation with no tuition being collected during the pandemic. They've started a GoFundMe account in hopes of raising $20,000.

The director, Cindy Enriquez, has worked at the preschool for decades and has been laid off. She says the school still has to pay a lease and insurance and they've been able to pay thanks to their reserves. However, that is now low.

On Thursday, a couple of moms came together and tell KION the preschool is a special place for the community.
