3.4 magnitude earthquake reported near San Juan Bautista

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, Calif. (KION) The USGS reports that there was a preliminary 3.4 magnitude earthquake about two miles south of San Juan Bautista.

It happened shortly before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and had a depth of about 6.5 kilometers.

About a half hour later, another 3.0 earthquake was reported in the same place.

According to the USGS, most people reported feeling it around Hollister and Salinas, but there are also reports that it was felt on the Monterey Peninsula, in Prunedale and into Santa Clara County.
