A loaded gun was found on Sem Yeto High School’s campus in Fairfield on Friday, months after a deadly shooting at the school’s graduation ceremony, police said.

Officers received information Friday morning that a student possibly had a firearm on campus and immediately responded to the campus on Atlantic Avenue.

The suspect was detained in a classroom and a loaded handgun with an extended magazine was found. The student was then taken into custody.

The suspect’s name will not be released due to their age.

Police said the incident appears to be isolated and there are no threats to the campus.

This comes just months after a student, 18-year-old Jamario Baker, was killed in a shooting at the Sem Yeto High School graduation. Three others were wounded in the shooting.

The suspect, 17-year-old Khare Clark, was arrested in Texas, with the Solano County District Attorney’s Office saying they will seek a transfer hearing to try the suspect as an adult in criminal court.

CBS Sacramento has reached out to the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District for a comment.
