Highway 50 was closed in Northern California’s high country due to police activity Thursday morning.

The closure was at South Upper Truckee Road in the Meyers area, near South Lake Tahoe.

California Highway Patrol said several agencies are at the scene working a felony stop on a vehicle that was pursued out of Sacramento. Negotiators were at the scene.

Rancho Cordova police originally initiated the chase, saying that officers tried to pull over a vehicle around 4 a.m. in their jurisdiction. The driver wouldn’t yield, however, and fled onto eastbound Highway 50 where CHP took over the chase.

Just before 9 a.m., CHP announced that a person had been taken into custody and the roadway would be reopening shortly as a result.

No other details about the person taken into custody, and what prompted the original attempted traffic stop, have been released.
