An officer-involved shooting investigation continues as all westbound lanes of Interstate 80 in Contra Costa County have reopened Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office said a shooting involving the Richmond Police Department will be investigated under Assembly Bill 1506, which requires the California Department of Justice to investigate officer-involved shootings resulting in the death of an unarmed person.

Bonta’s office said the shooting happened at about 7:20 a.m. and left one person dead. Additional details about the incident were not immediately available.

Caltrans said around 9:10 a.m. that westbound I-80 had been closed at the Hercules offramp, and the freeway was fully reopened around 4 p.m.
