Student wounded in shooting at Burton High School in San Francisco, arrest made

A teen has been wounded and another teen has been arrested following a shooting at a high school campus in San Francisco, officials said.
According to the San Francisco Fire Department, authorities were called to the campus of Phillip and Sala Burton Academic High School in the city’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood around 12:10 p.m.
When police arrived, they found a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound and rendered aid. Paramedics also responded to the scene and rendered aid.
The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to firefighters.
Supervisor Jackie Fielder said in a separate statement that the victim is a student at Burton High School and that the victim was shot in the leg.
“Every child deserves to feel safe at school and in their communities. We can never accept senseless violence that disrupts any student’s wellbeing and pursuit of their education,” Fielder said.
Police said that the suspect, a juvenile male, fled the scene. Officers with the department’s Crime Gun Investigations Center located the suspect on the 1400 block of Shafter Avenue in the city’s Hunters Point neighborhood and took him into custody without incident.
According to a preliminary investigation, police said the shooting was an isolated incident.
