Arrest made following early morning standoff at Hayward BART maintenance yard

BART officials said a person was arrested following an hours-long standoff at the agency’s Hayward maintenance yard Thursday morning.
The agency first issued a service advisory about the incident around 4:30 a.m. at the yard, located between the South Hayward and Union City stations. Power was turned off and trains are unable to be dispatched from the yard, officials said.
BART said service impacts were “minimal”, as Green Line trains were dispatched from other areas on the system.
In an update around 9:15 a.m., agency spokesperson Chris Filippi said that the person was safely taken into custody. Filippi said the person barricaded themselves in one of the buildings at the facility with a knife.
The agency said there was no danger to riders or BART workers during the incident, as the facility was evacuated. All stations on the system, including Hayward, South Hayward and Union City, remained open during the incident.
Additional details were not immediately available.
