Cal Fire takes advantage of cooler weather in fight against Salt 14-2 Fire

Cal Fire is looking to stay ahead of the flames as cooler weather has helped to slow the Salt 14-2 fire.

The fire has been burning for a week but another evacuation order was been lifted Tuesday.

"They haven't seen any significant fire growth on the incident in the past 24 hours," Battalion Chief Josh Silveria, a Cal Fire BEU spokesperson, said. "It's been pretty stable, which has been great allowing firefighters to really get in, put a direct line in and start to really control this fire and stop the spread."

He said that the fire has moderated significantly and that is partially due to the weather cooling down.

"We're always looking at how we can best prepare for the next thing," Silveria said.

This good news comes right when the agency was starting to become concerned with the fire heading towards a solar plant in Parkfield; the same plant that just recently had its own fire/

"there isn't a ton of concern at this point," Silveria said. "We do a really good job of putting in contingency lines around critical infrastructure like that."

Cal Fire said they are constantly re-evaluating evacuation warnings and orders and monitoring weather patterns to prepare for any changes in the fire's pattern.

"It's that two-pronged approach of dealing with the problem at hand and then forecasting what could possibly come into the future," Silveria said.

As always, Cal Fire asks that neighbors be prepared for the worst.

"Clear their homes, have that defensible space, have their go bags, be ready to go," Silveria said. "That's what you can do on your end. That's what the residents can do to be prepared in the event that there is a wildfire"

He also said the agency has a communication center that ensures the right resources are being sent to the right places and that local agencies are also providing aid and support.
