SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KION) - With a narrow 84-80 win over the Dallas Wings (9-33) Thursday night, the Golden State Valkyries (23-18) went where no team has gone before.

The Valkyries became the first expansion team in WNBA history to make the playoffs in the franchise's inaugural season.

Janelle Salaun led the charge in front of more than 18,000 fans at the Chase Center. She finished with a team-high 19 points, as well as six rebounds and one assist. On the other end, the Golden State defense managed to fend off rookie Paige Bueckers, who dropped a game-high 27 points.

After clinching a playoff berth, the Valkyries still have three more games remaining in the regular season.
