Warmer Temps, Still Below Seasonal Averages

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – Weak low pressure aloft will stick around for the next few days. The marine layer will remain in place on the coast but clouds may occasionally clear as the air around the low mixes through the layers.

Air Quality: Good      

This Morning: The Central Coast will see continued cool and cloudy conditions with a compressed but still deep marine layer supporting widespread drizzle. Expect overcast skies and damp mornings, with limited sunshine later in the day. Expect strong on-shore winds in the afternoon hours.

This Evening: For the evening, expect continued cloudy and cool conditions, especially near the coast and in higher terrain. The marine layer will deepen slightly, pushing low clouds back inland after brief afternoon clearing. Drizzle may redevelop overnight, mainly along coastal slopes and valleys.
 
Extended: Forecasts show a modest warming trend starting Monday into mid‑week. Monday (July 28) is expected to see highs around 72 °F, up a few degrees from the weekend's cool mid-to-upper 60s. Tuesday and Wednesday continue this trend, with highs in the lower 70s—possibly reaching upper 70s to low 80s inland if offshore flow strengthens. Coastal marine influence will still moderate temperatures closer to the coast. By Tuesday, the warming trend becomes more noticeable, with temps climbing 1–3 °F each day through the week.. Although, temperatures are still below seasonable averages for this time of year.
