San Benito Fire Safe Council seeks out community members

SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - The San Benito Fire Safe Council is seeking to recruit community members into the council.

The SBFSC is seeking members to represent Hollister Fire and CAL FIRE, along with those with current firefighting or first-responder experience.

A county-wide campaign to increase development of Firewise USA communities, which are neighborhood-level groups working together to reduce wildfire risks, is also part of the plan.

With this, communities will learn about shared risks, learn how to identify wildfire risks around homes, and explore potential home insurance benefits.

Those interested in joining a Firewise community can sign up at this link.

They are also seeking volunteers to assist in grant writing, information technology (IT) support, community outreach, and project management.

Those interested in those roles can contact the council at sanbenitofiresafecouncil@gmail.com
