Second suspect arrested for allegedly murdering Pajaro man found near levee

PAJARO, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Monterey County Sheriff's Office has 51-year-old Jorge Javier Sanchez Torres of Watsonville in connection with the alleged murder of 36-year-old Jesus Alfonso Dueate Figueroa last April.

Sanchez Torres was arrested this morning at 9:30 a.m. with detectives using a Ramey warrant to arrest him.

Figureroa's body was found near the Pajaro River levee on April 10, with forensic experts discovering the identity of Figureroa sometime later. Examinations revealed that their cause of death could have been homicide.

61-year-old Bernardino Rickie Sanchez of Pajaro was arrested on Friday, July 11, after a conversation with unhoused witnesses at the Pajaro River.

Both Sanchez and Torres are being held for murder.
