Body found in Morgan Hill identified as missing woman
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KION-TV) - A body found in Morgan Hill has been identified as 18-year-old Marissa DiNapoli, Morgan Hill Police confirmed this afternoon.
In a Facebook post, Morgan Hill Police stated, "this is not the outcome any of us wanted and we are heartbroken by this news. Marissa was a vibrant member of our Morgan Hill community with a bright future ahead of her."
DiNapoli was last seen at 9:45 a.m. on June 29, leaving a home with Martin Mendoza. DiNapoli had last contacted her family on June 28 via text message, saying she would be staying with her friend for the night, but would return home the next morning.
Mendoza remains a person of interest as the investigation continued with Morgan Hill detectives seeking out other leads.
DiNapoli's family released the following statement:
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Marissa, and at this time, our family kindly asks for privacy as we grieve and navigate this difficult journey. We appreciate the love and support from those who have reached out. In honoring Marissa’s memory, we kindly ask that no GoFundMe accounts or donation pages be created. If you wish to show support, please do so through your prayers, kind words, and cherished memories. Thank you for understanding and respecting our wishes during this deeply personal time.”
Morgan Hill Police investigating missing woman, seeking person of interest
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KION) - Morgan Hill Police are currently investigating a case of a woman, Marissa DiNapoli, who has been missing since June 28.
According to Morgan Hill Police, DiNapoli spoke to her family via text messages on June 28 at 9:16 p.m. In the message, DiNapoli wrote that she would be staying with a friend for the night, but would return home the next day.
Unfortunately, that did not happen as family members reported DiNapoli missing after not hearing or seeing her.
DiNopoli was last seen with Martin Mendoza at 9:45 a.m., leaving a home on Trail Drive outside of Morgan Hill. DiNapoli's car was located in the same area.
Mendoza would not cooperate with detectives investigating and is now considered a person of interest.
Mendoza is driving a white Toyota Camry with the license plate CW87W00 or 9PTM351.
