A Touch Warmer on Friday

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – That stable summer pattern will continue, Friday. Little change expected from the previous days. Daily cycle of low clouds in the morning, afternoon sunshine with lingering low clouds on the south and east sides of the bay, before low clouds thicken through the evening. The only minor change Friday, will be a slight bump in temperatures for interior locations. This weekend, though we'll remain under mostly sunny skies, weak troughing over the area will bring a gradual cool down into early next week. This downward trend in temperatures will not be drastic but will be felt inland. However, this disturbance could help mix out those coastal clouds which could slightly warm cities around the bay.

Air Quality: Good

Friday: Low clouds and fog in the morning, then becoming mostly sunny. Warmer, with coastal highs in the 60s-70s and 80s to upper 90s inland. Windy up-valleys late in the day.

Overnight: Low clouds thicken spilling into nearby valleys, but not becoming widespread leaving most interior locations under clear skies with a few thin high clouds passing through. Areas of patchy fog possible by dawn better chance closer to the coast. Mild/ comfortable lows mostly in the 50s.

Saturday: Morning clouds will clear, giving way to mostly sunny across the area, even southern and eastern parts of the bay will see more sunshine. Calm southwest winds, breezy at times. Highs in the 60s and 70s at the coast, upper 70s to mid 90s inland - warmer southern valleys.

Sunday: Few more clouds across the area, partly to mostly cloudy near the coast. Mostly sunny inland once low clouds clear early. West-southwest winds a bit stronger - breezy, gusty at times by the afternoon. Coastal highs in the 60s to low 70s, inland 70s to mid 90s.

Extended: By Monday, low clouds are looking more likely to thicken on the coast again. Models are pointing at the pendulum swinging back to warmer/sunnier by mid-week next week.
