Merced motorcyclist dead in Big Sur fatal crash Monday

BIG SUR, Calif. (KION-TV) - A man from Merced is dead after crashing into a tree near Big Sur on early Monday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Michael Harrison of Merced was riding his motorcycle around 5 p.m. northbound near Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.

Harrison veered to the left, crossing the southbound lane and crashing into a tree on the west shoulder. Harrison was ejected from his motorcycle, sustaining fatal injuries.

The cause for the crash is still under investigation.
