SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A dead skunk with rabies was discovered in a home in Aromas.

According to San Benito County Health and Human Services, on March 26, 2025, the skunk was found dead in the home and tested for rabies at a lab.

It was confirmed to have been infected by the virus. Rabies can spread through bites or saliva from infected animals and only post-exposure vaccination can prevent the disease as it is fatal without treatment.
