Imposter police officer arrested in Capitola

CAPITOLA, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A person pretending to be a Capitola Police officer was arrested after trying to buy alcohol last week.

The man had attempted to buy alcohol from a liquor store on 41st Avenue. employees noticed that the man was pretending to be a police officer and was seen with a 9 mm handgun.

After being alerted, officers found the vehicle of the impersonator which had what looked to be another handgun. Other findings include tactical vests, body armor, radios, and a police hat.

The man was detained inside of a bar with a replica gun on him. He was arrested and the items found in his car were seized.
