Capitola teen injured after being hit by semi-truck Thursday night

CAPITOLA, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A 17-year-old suffered major injuries while riding their bike after being hit by a semi-truck in Capitola on Thursday night.

The incident happened on 41st Avenue and Clares Street around 8:40 p.m. The 17-year-old was riding his e-bike when a truck delivery had hit him.

Capitola Police arrived within two minutes, treating the teen on site after they suffered significant injuries.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and helped to treat the victim hit.

The victim was extricated from under the semi-truck with the aid of Central Fire.

The victim remains in stable but critical condition after being transported via helicopter to a trauma center.
