Storm related closures, power outages on the Central Coast

CENTRAL COAST, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Multiple storm related power outages and closures are being reported after a storm briefly swept through the Central Coast.

Highway 1 between Ragged Point and Gorda in south Monterey County is shut down after a small slide went across the northbound lane.

Caltrans says in an effort to protect crews, they'll have to clear the slide on Friday morning but have opted to shut down the highway as a precaution.

In Santa Cruz County, Highway 9 south of Glen Arbor Road is closed after a tree fell across both lanes on Thursday night.

It's unknown when the road will reopen there.

Power outage affecting more than 3,000 customers in Carmel Valley

More than 3,000 Carmel Valley customers are without power due to the storm in Monterey County.

According to PG&E's Outage Map, the outage was first reported at 5:48 p.m. leaving 3,043 customers.

Crews are heading to the area to investigate the cause and make repairs.
