Seaside City Council voting to appoint new City Manager

Editor's Note: The article originally stated that Seaside Police Chief Nick Borges was serving as interim City Manager. Borges had served as an interim before former City Manager Craig Malin took on the position.

SEASIDE, Calif. (KION) -- A new City Manager is ready to be appointed during a special City Council meeting in Seaside Thursday evening.

The Seaside City Council has selected Greg McDanel for the role, appointing him at a Special City Council Meeting Thursday evening.

Former City Manager Craig Malin served as interim City Manager during this time. Before Malin, Seaside Police Chief Nick Borges took on the role after previous City Manager Jaime Fontes was terminated "without cause."

"Seaside is a dynamic and diverse community with a strong foundation of progress and I look forward to working alongside the City's dedicated staff, elected officials and engaged residents to continue the momentum," McDanel said in a press release.

McDanel served as a City Manager in Maryville, Missouri, since 2012 before his new appointment.

Once voted into office, McDanel is expected to begin work on March 17.
