New resolution seeks further conditions within Flock camera contract in Carmel-by-the-Sea

CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Carmel-by-the-Sea City Council will see a new resolution to continue the Flock camera system with some caveats.

A resolution calls for new recommendations for the city to consider with the current security systems in place used to read license plates. This includes advising Flock of the city's intention with the system by modifying its current contract.

This includes keeping the six cameras along the existing perimeter system, an option to add anywhere from six to 10 new cameras on light poles, and having a yearly report that states the effectiveness of the camera system.

Another condition includes working with Flock to prevent the sharing of personal data and to have first approval on any facial recognition software use.
