MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) -- SPCA Monterey County has taken in 11 pets from Los Angeles County into their care.

SPCA headed down to Los Angles to take in cats and dogs from local shelters to create more room for other animal fire evacuees affected by the ongoing deadly wildfires in Southern California.

The pets include a 1-year-old terrier mix named Lyle and a 1-year-old pug named Winter. A 14-week-old kitten named Ben Jr. and a 4-month-old pit bull named Gemma.

A cat, three more dogs and three more puppies will also be up for adoption this Tuesday. SPCA President and CEO Scott Delucchi said in a release about the helping aid in disaster efforts.

"We know all too well how disasters can impact pet owners given our recent experience here," Delucci said. "And we are here to do anything we can to help the shelters who are working so hard to rescue and care for animals. Our hearts are with everyone affected by this horrible disaster."

SPCA Monterey County also states their animal rescue team is ready for assistance should the need call for their assistance.

SPCA Monterey County wants Monterey County residents to know that all 11 rescued pets from the Southern California wildfires are up for adoption.
