Suspect arrested after hit-and-run involving a bicyclist

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A suspect was arrested after hitting a bicyclist near Pajaro on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the bicyclist from Watsonville was riding along Salinas Road, making a left turn into a traffic lane. A black GMC Yukon driving northbound struck the bicyclist, sending them into the roadway.

Other drivers stopped to help the rider back up as they suffered moderate injuries.

The suspected driver of the Yukon was then found after an investigation and now faces a felony hit-and-run charge.

Alcohol or drugs are not a factor in this crash.
