KION Pet of the Week: Meet Oliver O’Malley

KION's Pet of the Week for July 24, 2025 is Oliver O'Malley!

Oliver is 8 months old and is described as a sweet combination of puppy energy and older dog cuddles.

Animal Friends Rescue Project says Oliver went through some struggles as a stray, first arriving covered with a yeasty, itchy rash. His foster mom, thankfully, is a dog groomer and has cleaned him up well.

His skin is clearing up and he'll be ready for adoption in just a few weeks, according to AFRP.

Oliver loves playing with toys, especially those with squeakers. And he has also discovered the joys of playing with other dogs - big or small, he loves wrestling, chasing, and running around the yard.

Oliver is crate trained and his fosters have been working on potty training, but he is still a puppy, so an adopter will have to continue potty training as he assimilates into a new home.

Oliver is not fond of walking on a leash, and while his foster has been working with him on leash walking, this is something that will need continuous training as he is prone to just put on the brakes and stop walking.

Oliver would love to find a home with another playful pup to keep him company if his adopters are gone for extended periods of time. He loves being around people, and when left alone for too long, he will sometimes bark or cry - another dog can help keep him company. He has been exposed to cats and might do alright in a home with a very dog-savvy cat, but being a puppy still, slow introductions with a cat are a must!
