Gann Fire in Northern California’s Calaveras County reaches more than 3,000 acres with no containment

Crews are battling the fast-growing Gann Fire in Northern California’s Calaveras County, which has forced evacuations near New Hogan Lake.
The fire started Monday evening near Hogan Dam and Gann roads on the southeastern side of the lake, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
By 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Gann Fire had grown to an estimated 3,760 acres with no containment. Cal Fire said the blaze continued to spread at a moderate rate as additional resources arrived.
Calaveras Consolidated Fire said its crews were assisting with the firefight.
No injuries or damaged structures have been reported.
Calaveras County officials have issued evacuation orders for zones CCU-109, CCU-110, CCU-139 and CCU-147 on the east side of New Hogan Lake.
The evacuation area stretches from the northeastern side of the lake to west of San Andreas, reaching as far east as the Calaveras County Airport and as far south as Salt Spring Valley Reservoir.

An evacuation shelter is open at 189 Pine Street in Valley Springs. Small pets are accepted, while a large-animal shelter is available at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds in Angels Camp.
